“Teaching has been a career that I have wanted to do ever since second-grade, inspired by my second-grade teacher and her passion for teaching and her ability to make her students feel capable of anything, no matter the odds. My hope is that when my students enter the classroom, they feel that it is a community of trusted friends who can support each other to take the necessary risks to become life-long learners and successful members of the community. One thing that I hope each of my students takes away from their time with me, in addition to successfully reaching grade level standards, is compassion and empathy towards everyone around them. I work towards using students' unique funds of knowledge to help them to see what wonderful things they and their community of friends, peers, and classmates can accomplish together.” -Erika
